Jeff Demps in State Today...

Time and update on the Mill Page, Demps won state with a 10.40, not a fast track and into a head wind, his team won the 3A 4X100 and Demps came in 3rd in the 200m.

Friday, May 02, 2008

Jeff Demps will run at Winter Park today, unfortunately he'll run more than

one event and the State of Florida has prelims and finals on the same day.

That's a lot to ask of kids but who knows Demps does this sort of thing

often.  Also the relatively new surface on Winter Park's track is better for

long distance times than the sprints.  But track surface doesn't seem to

make much difference to Demps one of the most consistent runners this

state has ever seen.    Goooo JEFF

OK all you Gator fans and wanna be Gator fans,

this is your chance.

The Univ. of Florida Spring Football game will be on television.

It will be aired at 1:00 PM by ESPN.

In addition, the ESPN Game Day crew will be at the game with their

telecast from 11:00 AM until kickoff.

I'm betting that this will be a record crowd beating the old Orange

and Blue Game record of 67,500, best I remember.  I'm estimating

that the attendance will exceed 70,000.

Everyone wants to get a peek at the 2008 NC team!

Trivia Question

Trivia Quiz Time OK, we all know Kestahn Moore had 'trouble holding onto the ball'

last season. We were driving in the LSU game and on the verge of putting them

away, then Moore fumbled and I beleive they went back down the field and scored

on us. Then, in the Georgia game, we were trying to turn the momentum around

and Moore fumbled once again, and Georgia went back down the field and scored.

(The center hike over his head didn't help either, but it wasn't a fumble.) Moore

carried the ball 104 times last year.

The question is this: How many other times did Kestahn Moore fumble last season?

Sorry Folks!  This is a Subscriber Webesite...

You can subscribe by the year or half year to the upper right side of

this page.  You can be a part of the Save the Swampie Foundation.

I'm going to work hard to bring you whatever information this man

can, hope you'll want to join in.  If not this man will understand, things

are tight these days and there are a lot of Gator websites out there.

If you have paid and haven't registered do so and Swampie will activate

your subscription.  Whatever you choose, Go Gators....

A Glitch

Sorry there must be a glitch in the programming

the Stories page is set for subscriber but it open

it's the same set up as the Mill page so I'm going

to shut both of them down to subscriber only.

Not getting much mail these days, so I can use

both pages.  Front page will tell you what's inside

and where.

This Week In Sports

A new weekly feature has been added

to the Stories page and General discussion

on the Forum's page.

Chuck Heater

Gator defensive back coach and recruiting

coordinator was on Sportscene with Steve

Russell today.  Taped it and am dictating

most of it.  Will finish later today and post

on the Stories page.  Some coaches you

can listen to for an hour and they'll say

30 seconds worth of stuff, others you

can pack 20 hours into one.  Heater had

a lot of extremely interesting stuff.  It's

over 8 pages but read to the very end

to see where Heater puts the best corner!

Subscriber on all pages

Front page, Discussion page till the fall

and the write Swampie pages are open.

Many who have paid are not registered

users.  Just register and use the name

that was on the check, your display

name can be whatever you want.

Look for weekly listings posts on the forums

general discussion page, on the stories

page the goal is to have two items a

week from Swampie.  You'll see what I

have in mind there soon enough.  Will

not hold back on the recruiting page.

Keep an Eye on Stories Page

If there are any news items of interest they'll go

on the stories page.

Thanks

If you subscribe to Swampie by check please make it out

to Dick Retey or Dick (Swampie) Retey.  I want to thank

everyone who's subscribed.  Next week when this man

gets it figured out the mill will go over to subscriber on the

entire site except for the Home and Mill pages.  Will set up

the accounts then.

Computer Down, sorry got a virus...

Please subscribe/donate to the right side.  Things are looking good

thanks to those who have already subscribed, are nearing that goal.

Thoughts are at this time to keep the discussion page open through

the summer and close the rest other than the front page.  Hope

you join the mill Swampie sure could use your help.  Thanks, got my

old computer running.  Virus seemed to take hold slowly, watch any

type card you get in email.  Heard something over the news.  Have

an external hard drive for backup storage and put everything I could

on it, so hopefully nothing will be lost and shoot I wanted my computer

wiped clean anyway, so much stuff gets on there that you can't find

to delete....

Haven't seen any emails since Saturday so I have no idea what has

happened to Gator sports since then, shoot they could have hirded a

few new coaches by now...    Thank all you guys, stay tuned have

to develop a subscriber log soon meaning I have to log everyone in

for now.

First Football Commit for 2009 - Greg Reid!

WRUF am850's Steve Russell just said Greg Reid a cornerback from

Valdosta, Georgia, is Florida's first commitment for the 2009 class.

So Florida gains a Greg and lose a Greg...

Russell also says Greg Mattison might be gone to the NFL.  He's only

58 years old, born Nov. 15, 1949, he has several years left and it looks

like some of those will be at the next level.  Sure will miss this coach,

hope he has a change of heart.  Wonder what is going on up there

for three to jump ship.

A Look at the Numbers on the Recruiting page...

Should move to subscriber by this weekend.

I'm checking to see if there is enough interest in the Mill.  Right now it

doesn't appear to be there.  If you subscibe I suggest you do it by

check.  I won't cash any if there isn't enough of a reply.  I've given this

thing half measures this past year, it hasn't been good for the mill.

Beleive it or not it takes more time than you'd think.  And for me to

continue I'm going to want to do a whole lot more than I have been.

Anyway if the interest isn't there this has been an honor and perhaps

it's time to move on.  Some have helped me a lot in many ways.  I won't

completely close it down probably will answer some mail till the year runs

out.  Thanks to all the good friends I've made though this web site over

the years.  And a special thanks to the Mill Stones I'll never forget your help.

Want to mention several people looked into a partnership in the mill, some

I suspect weren't too serious but a few were.  That offer is no longer in

the works.

Coaches Sour Grapes/Recruiting Gimmicks

Excellent read by The RH Factor on the Stories Page...

Scout.com says Omar Hunter is a Gator!

Ramon Buchanan is a GATOR

Buchanan a big time tweener LB/DB prospect out of

Palm Bay was committed to Miami, today he chooses the

Gators.  Buchanan is a fan favorite who's been on the

wish list of the vast majority of those who follow Gator

recruiting.  This is a big deal for the Gators, but it only

makes sense.  Miami had too many linebacker commits

it was unreasonable to expect them to hold them all.

Congrats to Gator Basketball 7 in a ROW

over Can'tucky.  Billy D owns the mildcats!!!!

Franklin Green no longer a commitment

Thought the list of Gator commitments hit 20 till moments ago

noticed that Frankling Green the RB out of Savannah Jenkins HS

has dropped off the board.  Something never was right on this

commitment was told grades yet the head coach at Jenkins said

grades weren't an issue as far as he knew.  Do know that Jenkins

camped at Georgia Southern this summer, they have a great

relationship with the coaches there and that's where Green

just might end up.  He has incredible feet glad he isn't going to

go to South Carolina.

Adrian Bushell commits to Florida

This is awesome.  Did a video on Bushell it's from his spring

game at DeSoto, his family moved to Texas from Miami in

after his junior football season.  Bushell got my Reggie Nelson

award of all the recruits I viewed, you can see him doing

everything.  He even blocks a big DE and LB in the video,

he can catch, run, play corner, he's just a super athlete.

You'd have to think so with this class filling up it's getting

toward the end so you know the coaches are only taking the

best ones now.  Will place a clip of him below alow some time

for it to load up on YouTube...   Very happy with this commit,

what a class our staff has going...

Lerentee McCray Commits to Florida

McCray is your basic rocket sled he can really scoot.  He has to

grow a little and adjust to LB at the next level, but he's one

fine prospect and a great commit for the Gators!  McCray is

the 19th commitment for this class, he's the 11th defensive

commitment if T.J. Pridemore is a LB and not a FB recruit.

There are seven offensive recruits and one kicker.

Business Partner for Swampies

If anyone out there is interested in being a business

partner in Swampie's Rumor Mill contact me.  I am in

desperate need of someone who knows business and

can make decisions in that area.  Think there is a decent

product here that can be even more, a lot more.  Was

slowed down thinking I had a position opening up at

Gator Country.  That didn't happen want to make a

few changes here, looking for a 50% partner who can

help out.  Want do more in areas of news and recruiting

and getting out and getting video of Florida prospects

instate.

Ricky Barnum picks the Gators!

Two guys this man wanted for the OL, two guys the

Gators Got!  Matt Patchan and Ricky Barnum are two of

the very best inside/outside offensive linemen.  Barnum

can block extremely well in space, he has terrific feet.

You look at Barnum, Patchan and Sam Robey and they

all have one big thing in common.  All move EXTREMELY

well.  They need to put some weight on but what better

way to do that than in a big time program under the

supervision of professionals.  Better to put it on than take

it off then put it back on.  Sorry had to remove the

Barnum video to make room for some clips of Adrian Bushell...

Jeff Demps picks the Gators!

This is huge in this man's opinion.  Demps is the fastest player in

America.  The happiest man at Florida just might be the track coach,

Urban Meyer is a track coache's best friend.  You add kids like Demps

and Deonte Thompson to your roster you are talking about some

super serious speed.  And take this to the bank, Demps will play some

running back at Florida, this kid just needs a crack, a little daylight and

kiss him goodbye.  Expect an impact with Brandon James on the kick

return team.  You add Chris Rainey who's another flyer and just shake

your head Gator fans, the future is awfully bright and quick at Florida...

Matt Patchan picks the Gators!

Sorry had to remove the Patchan video to make room

for William Green's...

Matt Patchan is a huge commit for the Florida Gators,

the top rated OT prospect commitment for Urban Meyer

since he's been at Florida.  The thing about it is Patchan

could probably play some DT at the college level if he

concentrated at that position, he's 6-7, 270 and reported

to run a 4.6 forty when you watch him play it seems OT

is what he's best suited for.

You think Tebow is tough, wait till you see Matt Patchan!

This is a HUGE commit for Meyer, this class, the Gators!

Jason Watkins and Phil Trautwein are both seniors next

year with no clear front runners to replace them.  Nice

job by the Florida Gators.

It's in the numbers.  His number is 15, his big number is 51 TDs,

second in the nation in passing effeciency.  Tied the record for

most rushing TDs in a season by a QB 22, set the record for most

rushing and passing TDs by a QB 22/29.  He spreads the ball around

and has had over 10% of his passes dropped this season.  We catch

could get more.
